First Love, doesn't have rules for its own..for most it may sprout during the their teenage..while for some it may strike lately. Those exciting new feelings of love are always so pure and primitive. All the Sleepless nights, Excessive beauty consciousness,Disconnected feelings in their absence and Over protectiveness are the consequences usually confronted during its venture. These moments captured during its influence are truly life-long relishable assets. Each of the lived experience is later flashed across the mind with certain simple objects that we come across in our daily race, that had the key role in that episode.Simple jokes or situations or an incident usually reminds the pleasant time spend together which indeed remains as a special token in the memories shelf of our life.
Now this small nostalgic episode occurred a few days back, early morning i was stuck in the worst ever twist of fate where all the bathrooms where seized. And as fate on this day had the directors seat, his script had perfectly made me stay a bit longer in the gym during my usual day workout. After regular visits to each of the doors i admitted my defeat to the checkmate i was put on. And soon settled down to a seat in the dining hall with the towel & soap.
Now in our working men's hostel the radio was left in charge to announce the completion of our cooks breakfast frontier. We were his only guinea pigs to test his daily expedition through which no cook was brave enough to travel. His works ranged from carrot pickles to cocktail vegetable mixtures. His main achievements are the fish fries, actually we all have given a thought to give an Ad in the local newspaper, for allowing people to actual come and witness the smallest fishes ever found on earth.
The radio was tuned to the local FM station, which is the same from the time i remember hearing it and i seriously doubt now if its capable of receiving any other channels. But normally never does one care about the poor thing and more over while dining each one would be busy naming each & every human trace genetically linked with our cook with the most offensive words one could ever find.
But on this day this instrument really took me to places. The radio jockey(sounded as some divorced fat woman in her mid fifties!! ) was pleading to her callers to give her an opportunity to sing. She would let her caller first sing a song and fortunately (unfortunately,in our case)if they showed the slightest bit of hesitation, she would start airing her talent all around the city.Even though i could hear some conversation through the radio,my thoughts were busy in the days itinerary.
But unexpectedly some melody freezed my thoughts at once.."Ponnola Thumbi Poovali Thumbi Adu Adu Neeyaadadu..."...the voice assorted with the splendid lyrics and the tune lifted me to a passionate romantic setting.Gradually as i hovered with the tune, the location changed to a dark college hostel room, the music muted and the vocal singled to a more amateur profile. My right hand held the mobile phone and i was completely pinned to the singer on the other end. After a days rigorous compulsion she had agreed to sing a song for me through the phone.Initially a "No Laughter" pact was signed, any act disobeying the pact would result in termination of the on air voice streaming.Only a few weeks before had we conveyed each other our hidden feelings for one another.Still the introverted and the shyfull villain was in the air. The lyrics of the song had really touched her and she wanted me to get the essence of it..
" Nee Illengil Innen Janmam ( In your absence, this life)
Venal Kanavai Poy Polene ( would have perished as a summer dream.. )
Nee Illengil Swapnam Polum ( In your absence, even my dream)
Minnal Kathirigalai Poyene " ( would have lightning sparks!! )
